All The Single Ladies

Thought Box
This new year has approached us by storm, a year of elections, it is our civil duty to be up to speed with what each candidate has to offer our mighty nation. It is a year of decisions, and it seems that admist all this political arena we are faced with a season that graces us with yet more decisions- Valentines Day. It may seem an odd comparison, politics and love, and I argue that in fact they are very close kin. See in both politics and love there are two sides to be considered, the public and the private. The politics OF love  have been immensely skewed in this modern era, and I for one must say that there seems to be alot of more corruption in the later. Being the single writer of MUA! I can with all very bold honesty share this with you all, the one thing that sparks the most interest in me in the parallels between politics and love is that both make you reflect back to who you really are. Whether its deciphering which political platform best fits your core values on family, education and finances, or assessing if that one potential love candidate truly reflects a heart that is firstly fitting with God and secondly integral in his reflection of what you need. It all boils down to this...
WHO AM I and WHAT DO I STAND FOR?

If there is one thing that we can all agree on is that, no matter where we are in our journey to figuring that question out... we still have to get dressed every morning! And so I propose this, let the self-discovery begin from the inside out.

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will"
Romans 12:2

Let's set in motion that mindset this season, to be transformed with the renewals of our minds. Approaching Valentines Day with just four days left, there is no better time as a single woman to be more at peace and in tune with who we are and what we want. For many, the commercialization of the day has brought with it a custom of settling. Yes, I said it...
S-E-T-T-L-I-N-G!
There is a rush to find a make-shift Valentines, or the ever popular settling for chocolates and romance movies, or even more popular settling for the good ol' "I HATE LOVE" mentality. In reality, none of these are an accurate description of where we should be as strong, single, women! Its the Politics of Singledom. I for one will make a very bold confession, have never had a Valentine's, and you know what? That is ok with me! Take this time to treat yourself, to find out what you like and don't like, what you need, where you want to be in life, and most importantly- Fall in LOVE with eternal Commitment- God. Who are we kidding? We want to be spoiled on Valentines Day, but let's not ruin it in the process. Wait for the one who will love you every day like its Vday, wait for the one who fits everything you ever wanted and more, wait for the one who will hold your hand and show you off in all your fabulous fashionable glory! Until then, be happy and be content with who you are! I can never stress this enough, there is such a joy and peace with knowing that you love yourself in your own skin. It is that confidence that will attract the right man to you! So let's shine what's on the inside with outward expressions- CLOTHESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

There is no reason why we as single women, cannot get dressed up in celebration of loving ourselves! Yet we have the freedom to wear whateverrrrrr we desire! After all, this day is all about US!

Here are a few color inspirations:

Lavender is a beautiful alternative to the traditional red or pink. It is romantic and eye catching and will be sure to stand out in any crowd.

It is also a trending color for this upcoming Spring Season, so be sure to snag an airy blouse, or pencil skirt in this hot color!

Maybe you are more of a girly soft romantic, how about a Mauve?

Love the maxi skirt, has a rouching detail at the hip with gives a gorgeous silhoutte, and the slit gives a very edgy hint of skin. (I personally do not recommend it to be that high, a simple stitch can fix that)

Nothing says Confident and Independent like a perfectly structured Blazer!!! They are excellent with just about anything, jeans, slacks, skirts, dresses, tshirts, blouses, you name it a blazer can make it work!

These beautiful dresses are both feminine and delicate! They scream elegance and class, not "Hey YOU! I'm SINGLE!"

One last color option this Valentines Day to consider... Cream!

Cream and Lace are a beauty!!

I absolutely ADORE the hint of faux mink in burgandy!

This casual cream look is excellent for a night out with friends this Valentines Day. And of course we can't forget THE DRESS! Every women should own a perfectly fitting dress. The ruffles on this one shows of a beautiful hourglass figure without overpowering or distracting!

And finally ladies... One last color to try... ::DRUMROLL::

Burgandy!

The cinched waist, accentuated by the thin gold belt is an excellent way to bring definition to all the right places, without being too sensual!

This model actually has a burgandy leather skirt (leather skirts are HOT this season) layered over a chiffon buttoned dress, hence the hint of detail at the lower lining of her skirt! This defininitely a tip to try next time you are remixing in your closet!

I am faux fur and mink fanatic!! As the trend has come back to good graces in the fashion world, this particular brighter burgandy is DIVINE! I find excellent ones at reallyyyyy affordable prices at thrift stores = )

Well ladies, I hope that I have inspired you to reassess your perspective on Valentines day, and for all of you who are married or in committed relationships, don't be afraid to steal some of these wonderful color palettes! I promise your significant other will be JAW-DROPPED at the sight of you in them. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... remember to be YOU in everything you do, and reflect it in everything you wear! The transformation comes from the inside out, let God's plans for you begin with a radiant attitude and disposition to be the fullness of who you were created in him! Kick it up this Vday, Red-Burgandy, White- Cream, Purple- Lavender, and Pink- to Mauve!
